Crashed Hardrive with no image

Thread needs solution

Hi,

In my work I had a machine that crashed due to a dying harddrive. The error was Smart harddrive detects imminent failure. Save data asap....

So I have removed the harddrive and put it into the desktop which has the Acronis backup 11.7 on it and I made a backup of it.

I converted this backup to an virtual machine to see if it woud boot up and it did with no problems.

I then got a brandnew hard drive and recovered it to the machine ( I selected that option that copies the NT signature over)

I then put this hdd into the old pc and it would not boot up with it. It came with an error... disk not recognised.

So I assume I have not created my physical machine correctly....?

Now as this has not worked I took the HDD back out and put it in the Acronis PC. I took the image and but that on the HDD like any regular folder.

I then downloaded the bootable media iso from Acronis. Moved the hdd with the backup file on it back to the new machine and then tried to boot up from the usb cd drive using the iso.

This however could not launch the boot loader as it gave back the message

"Exiting due to signal SIGILL

Invalid Opcode at eip=e0b38b05 and a lot of other system messages. At the end I got the message press eneter ( I have included a screen shot)

Am I doing something ridiculous here?

Also when I hit enter on that screen i go directly to the acronis splash screen which then disapears and the computer hangs

Br

David

Hello David,

Thank you for your posting! I would recommend to validate the image and reattempt the recovery using a WinPE-based bootable media

Thank you,
