error backing up virtual macines with esxi apliance
hello,
i recently had a problem backing up 4 vm on an esxi 5.0 host.
AMS is installed on one of these machines, the virtual apliance is deployed and running.
Backup destination is a nas device, with an nfs share connected to the esxi host and a dded to the apliance as local storage.
the error i get is:
ProtectCommand: impossibile eseguire il comando.

"Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password."
as last line says i guess this is a problem of permission, but when planing a backup job i noticed that i may enter two set of credentials:
-1 for the backup plan
-1 for the source
now we created a specific user domain wide for acronis agents (domain\a-aau).
this user is administrative so has full controll on everything on the network (ntfs-wise ofcourse).
i also been able to get it added under esxi/vcenter as a user with read permission.
My guess is that read permission are not sufficent, but would be ideal to know if this is the case.
so, what's the minimum level of esxi permission i need to do this?
is the error related to the source or the destination?
please note that appliance deployment was made before vcenter integration with local root user credentials, now we dont have that access anymore.

i just checked the version and that's because we haven't re-deployed the apliance since we updated to 11.5.
can this cause a problem?

If appliance is not updated, I'd update it - although nowhere is said that appliance of previous build won't work, such configuration wasn't tested almost for sure.
I had this same problem today. I don't know if this will help you, but try editing the job and changing the Plan credentials (all the way at the bottom). Once I changed this to the root account, everything started working again.
