Exchange Server 2007 - should I enable VSS Full backup?

Thread needs solution

Hello

We have a Microsoft Windows 2008 Small Business Server (so Exchange Server 2007) and we have just purchased Acronis Backup 11.5 for Windows Server Essentials.

The question is, when I backup Exchange should I enable VSS Full backup so that the log files are truncated?

The issue we have had before is that log files get to such a size that they have an impact on the free space on the server.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on how you backup your Exchange data. If you select Exchange databases , then according to http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#1… , logs are always truncated in Exchange backup unless ' Manual start' scheme with 'copy-only' flag is selected. If you back up the machine as 'disks/volumes' , then 'VSS Full backup' option is applicable. If you back up mailboxes, logs are not truncated.
