Failing to import unrecognised tapes
Hi, we have a problem restoring backup from tapes from a different server, without the original centralized vault.
Currently we are able to make tape backups using a Tandberg Autoloader (which has a HP Ultrium LTO 5 drive), connected with SFF-8088 cable to an LSI pcie card.
Everything works and can restore backup from the tapes, as long as we use the original centralized vault.
But then we want to test a disaster scenario, where the original centralized vault is no longer available.
We installed Acronis on a different server, connect the autoloader, and we can do a full inventory of the tapes of the autoloader.
The tapes gets categorized as "Unrecognized tapes". The barcodes are detected.
Then I clicked "Rescan", I click the vault where I would want the backup information to go to, clicked a tape, and tried with and without checking "Enable file recovery from disk backups stored on tapes".
The operation takes 1 second and writes "Operation success". (which obviously is wrong, this should take longer).
If I look at the centralized vault, its empty. Also there's no dependant backups on the tape.
If I connect the tape autoloader back to the original server, everything works correctly.
This is a necessary feature because if the original centralized vault is not available, the tapes are now completly useless...

Note: we are using Acronis Backup Advanced for HyperV, version 11.7 (just recently upgraded to latest version with no change on this issue). Windows server 2012.

Hello Philippe, make sure that you made FULL inventory on the new server prior to making Rescan. Tapes with data written by Acronis Backup on another machine should appear in Imported pool after Full Inventory.

Thanks for the answer Andrey,
like mentioned in my post, I did "Full inventory" many times during my testing. The backups never appears.
Could it be a system permission problem ? The archive are not password protected...
Any other possibilities that the backups does not appear after full inventory and rescan ?
Is there some way to have more verbose outputs and logs in some way ?
All I see is "Operation successful" but no details...

This is the uncommon situation, it is hard to say what was wrong. Need to contact Acronis support for deeper investigation.
