Hyper-V Server 2012 - Backup fails - Volsnap errors

Thread needs solution

Dear community,

Environment
Hyper-V Server 2012
Acronis Backup 11.5 Advanced Server Hyper-V Edition
As volume shadow copy provider i use "Software - System Provider", the Microsoft
VSS.

Problem
Two Backups randomly fail while creating a snapshot via the hyper-v agent on
the host. i receive following errors in the eventlog of the host:

Source: volsnap Eventid: 27
The shadow copies of volume \\?\Volume{97f0e418-5be3-11e4-b1d0-90b11c0e6b39} were aborted during detection because a critical control file could not be opened.

Source: volsnap Eventid: 25
The shadow copies of volume C: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.

Source: disk Eventid: 153
The IO operation at logical block address 800 for Disk 1 was retried.

and a new entry for the Filtermanager:
Eventid 3
Filter Manager failed to attach to volume '\Device\HarddiskVolume105'. This volume will be unavailable for filtering until a reboot. The final status was 0xC03A001C.

i increased the volume shadow copy storage manually by vssadmin resize shadowcopystorage.
i wonder while only two of the three backup tasks fail randomly. one task finishs every night without
a problem.

Thanks in advance

Hi Sebastian,

In case there are different VMs failing to be backed up, the reason could be simultaneous backup of them which imposes too high load onto the server - then you should try running the backups at different times (or disable simultaneous VM backup in the backup options). If the VMs are the same each time the backup fails, then you collect the logs from the host system via Acronis System Report tool (https://kb.acronis.com/content/36248 ) and contact our support team for further investigation.

Thank you.
