Last Finish Time and Next Start Time not updating

Thread needs solution

Hello,

My AMS is not updating the server backup information.  For example the history is not updating, the Last Finish Time, and the Next start time are also not updating.  If I connect directly to the specific server that is being backup I can see that the history is correct and the last finish and next start times are updated.  Bu when I connect into AMS all my servers backup info is not being updated.  Any idea how to fix?

Thanks in advance!

DC

Hi DC,

If the Agent itself shown the correct information, then the issue is likely caused by a desynchronization between Acronis Management Server and Management agents (agent machines). I'd recommend starting with the following steps to find the root cause and resolve the issue:

1. Check connection

Check connection using telnet from Acronis Management Server to the Management Agent (agent machine) and from the Agent to AMS on port 9876, as described in this article.

If it does not work – you are facing a connection issue. Please refer to Acronis Backup Advanced: Connection to Remote Components Fails.

2. Check antivirus

Make sure the antivirus software does not block communication and data traffic between the Management Server and Management Agents (agent machines). Information is processed in “cards” stored in the Outbox folder on the agent machine.

Make sure that this folder is excluded from the antivirus check:
Windows XP,2003 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Outbox
Windows Vista,7,2008,2012,8 C:\ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Outbox

Acronis Software: Making Acronis Products Compatible with Antivirus Software will help to set up exclusions.

3. Check the size of AMS database

Database acronis_cms_cards_.mdf contains synchronisation information for the agents such as Backup policiesTasks and other various information about Agent machines. In some cases, there may not be enough space in the database to proccess new information. See Acronis Backup Advanced: Large Size of Acronis Database on SQL Server, which explains how to check the size of acronis_cms_cards and remove the old entries from the db.

Thank you,

If the IP of the machines changed after the last update the AMS can`t update the IP automatically. Try to remove from the AMS and add it again and the information of the machine will be update and until the IP addrees doesn`t change the information will be updated.

Thats is what happened to me. I had to fix all the IPs of the client machines to it work correctly.

If you find another way please let me know, I don`t like to fix the IPs of the machines.

Regards

Hello Sandro,

I replied here, let's continue troubleshooting in this thread.

Hi Ekaterina,

Thank you very much for replying to this post.  A long time ago working with Acronis I beleive I had a similar issue and Acronis helped me truncate a database as well, I dont think it is was the same databases as you mentioned in your post.   Would there be any other DBs that need to be truncated as well?  We are using a SQL database in our environment.

thanks again!

DC

Hi Ekaterina,

The db truncating process we used earlier was to run the remove_history.bat which help shrink the dml_objects.db3.  We ran that and still having the same issues where the finish and start times do not update and the history is blank.  We will look into running the SQL command to shrink the acronis cms cards.

Thank you,

DC

Sometimes it also helps to clean up another AMS database that stores information about all Agent activities, here we have the instructions https://kb.acronis.com/content/31547
