Recovery of Windows 10 Pro successeful - but now Invalid Windows License

Thread needs solution

Harddrive was failing.  Created Image. Installed NEW harddrive into same computer.  Restored without issue.

Now Windows complaining that License is Invalid.

This was originally a Windows 7 which was upgraded during the Microsoft Free update period to Windows 10.

 Re-keying Windows 7 key doesn't work.

HOW DO YOU FIX THIS?

Hello Adam,

Sorry to know about your issue! Please take a look at the following discussion https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2017-forum/proceedural-questions-about-my-first-backup#comment-401292

My understanding is Windows 10 is tied to the hardware and unless you have a special transferable license key, it can be activated on one hardware only. Otherwise you'll likely need to contact Microsoft to get your new system licensed.
