ReFS Forced sector-by-sector mode. Unable to Mount ReFS image backups.

Thread needs solution

11.7 build 50420 on Windows 10 ENT build 17763.379.

I believe I read that Resizing a ReFS volume during recovery isn't supported.  Also, that folder exclusions are not possible.  When I actually backed up a couple of ReFS volumes I noticed a couple additional things that may or may not be unrelated.  First is I'm alerted that the backups are Forced sector-by-sector mode.

I understand what sector by sector mode does and read this
https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-backup-117/backup-succeeded-warnings

Is this to be expected with all ReFS volumes and is it also why folder exclusions are not possible?  Is Acronis working to fully support ReFS in the future?

I know my volumes aren't corrupted because I've tried and created many from scratch as tests.  All return the same codes 46 & 29

Also when I attempt to mount any of the captured ReFS backup images whether incremental or full or weather ReFS integrity is on or off I'm presented with errors as follows:

I appreciate your guys help in getting this sorted out.

Hello Allison.

I believe I read that Resizing a ReFS volume during recovery isn't supported.  Also, that folder exclusions are not possible.

Resizing and folder exclusion are not yet supported on ReFS in Acronis Backup.

What concerns the "Forced sector-by-sector mode" backup error, it does not relate to ReFS. If it is a virtual guest system that you back up, please follow this KB article in order to resolve the issue you reported.

Otherwise, please run CHKDSK utility on all the logical volumes that you back up/mount:

  • Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
  • Enter the command: chkdsk DISK: /r
    (where DISK is the drive letter of the partition you need to check.)
    (!) Checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine, so if reboot is not possible at the moment run chkdsk without "/r" parameter. If no problems are revealed then you won't need to run "chkdsk /r" - in this case check the below sections for possible workaround.

@Maria Belinskaya

Thanks for the follow-up.  The very first time I observed the "Node is corrupted." error I'd run checkdisk and it didn't find any bad sectors or indexes.  So then I tried it on a newly formatted partition.  Same result.  Then another hard drive altogether.  Same result.

I'd really like to sort out why I'm getting this ""Node is corrupted." and also why I cannot mount the backups to browse them.  I appreciate your continued help.

Hello Allison.

I suggest that you collect AcronisSystem Report and upload it on an FTP link that I have sent you in a Private Message.

Hello Allison,

your report shows that ReFS volumes were not recognized. This is not a normal situation according to Acronis Backup 11.7 guide, the chapter about  The information on Resilient file system support applies to Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2016

Thus, I would recommend that you contact Acronis Support Team in order to investigate this issue (please provide them with an FTP link with your system report).
