restore data from a archive which is marked for deletion?!?

Thread needs solution

Hai @all,

i need a file which was delete some weeks ago.

I still have the full backup (and the incrementals) before the file was deleted.

But my backup plan has a deletion time of 3 weeks, so they are marked for deletion by Acronis Backup Advanced for VMware 11.7.50064.

The archives where saved on a NAS.

So how can i unmark the archive(s) and use this for recovery?

Thanks in advance

Hello Frank,

welcome to Acronis user forums! What type pf vault are you using?

In case of a personal\centralized unmanaged vault you can edit the meta-information in the root folder of the vault:

- Go to the root folder of the vault and find an .xml file named after corresponding archive;
- Open it with Notepad and find

<delete-mark>
             1
</delete-mark>

- Change 1 to 0 and save the file. Repeat for all slices that you want to unmark.

In case of a centralized managed vault all information about backups is stored in the vault database. Please make sure to make a copy of all the files you're going to modify according to the steps described below:

- Detach vault containing backups marked for deletion.
- Remove .fdb file from the vault folder if detach generated it.
- Attach the vault.
The ASN database will be re-indexed based on the actual information about TIBs residing in the vault directory and there will be no backups marked for deletion.
WARNING: the steps above will unmark ALL backups marked for deletion.

Thank you,
