Unable to update Acronis Backup from 11.7.44421 to 11.7.50064
Hi, hope somebody can help me with the right advice.
Because new company policies, I had to update the Acronis Backup version installed on my laptop (11.7.44421) to 11.7.50064.
These are the step I followed:
- I have launched "AcronisBackup_11.7_50064_en-EU.exe" and choosed the “Update” option.
- After some minutes, Bootable Media Builder, Command Line Tool, Management Console and Tray Monitor were processed successfully, but suddenly the update process stopped and a warning message about a damaged or corrupted Windows registry value popped up (unfortunately I didn’t take a screenshot of that message). Only choice was to click "Cancel".
- I decided to try again choosing option “Uninstall” instead of “Update”, but again I get same warning message. Looking at Control Panel -> Programs and Features I see that both "Acronis Backup 11.7 Agent Core" and "Acronis Backup 11.7 Agent for Windows" has yet to be removed from system. Bootable Media Builder, Command Line Tool, Management Console and Tray Monitor were actually removed.
- Then I downloaded and launched "cleanup_tool_x32.exe". "Acronis Backup 11.7 Agent Core" removal fails (message "Failed 1603") while "Acronis Backup 11.7 Agent for Windows" removal was successful.
Before reboot I ckecked out
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
accordingly as suggested into https://kb.acronis.com/abr115cleanuptool then I reboot.
Unfortunately, my laptop did not restarted. Just before Windows GUI, I saw a BSOD for half a second, and that's it. Only way to get out has to press F8 and choose "Last Know Good Configuration".
Now I am throwback at the end of step 3. How can I get out of this?
thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,
I am sorry for the long delay of my answer. Anyway, I have fixed the issue I posted. I applied your suggestions, no luck. After investigation, I decided to make new user profile. After that I had installed "AcronisBackup_11.7_50064_en-EU.exe" without any issue. My Windows User profile was somehow corrupted, eventually.
Thanks for helping

Claudio, thank you for taking the time to share the final solution with the community! I'm sure this thread will be helpful for others, as issues with corrupted Windows profiles are always tricky
