Very slow backups for VM's in last couple of weeks

Thread needs solution

Afternoon morning peeps,

Hoping someone might be able to come up with some suggestions as we are rapidly running out of ideas, for the last week or two, all of our backup plans have been running very very slowly, backup plans that used to take maybe 10 minutes to successfully complete or so is now taking 8 hours + and some are appearing to be going so slowly that we are having to force them to stop.

The most common factor is that this issue only appears to be effecting backup plans that are backing up VM’s, the daily backup plans that back up the physical range appear to have no issues it seems.

We’ve recently started upgrading our Storage nodes, VMA’s with the latest Acronis agent version 11.5.43916 as of last week, we were previously on 11.5.39029 and we had no issues. Weve also upgraded some of our physical machines with this latest client and haven’t had any issues.
Weve tried rolling back one of our VMA’s back to the previous working version and re-ran the job and still the job is still just as slow!?

Any ideas if this could be an issue with Vcentre itself? Anyone else had any issues with this latest version? Could it be a database issue on Acronis? Some sort of network issues? If so, anything in particular we can check?

Any suggestion’s would be appreciated?

Regards

Hi Terry,

I've not found any similar issues reported so far and unlikely that the problem is related to particular Virtual Appliance build (since you have the same symptoms after degrading it to previous build + backup of physical machines to the same vault work fine). It makes sense to contact our support team for assistance and further investigation. Remember to collect system report from Acronis Management Server machine (Help->Collect System Report).

To localize the issue you can try the following:

Attach a virtual disk to some of your Virtual Appliances (the disk has to be >10GB) and back up some VM onto this disk by connecting to appliance directly from the management console (instead of managing it through AMS). This would let you check whether the problem is actually related to appliance<->backup vault connection or whether it is the data reading speed.

Also clarify whether you have updated your vSphere to 6 version recently since it has a known broken CBT issue (see details in notes to http://forum.acronis.com/forum/88185 thread).

Thank you.
