Ran Acronis Reporter which found errors on disks
Ran Chkdsk /r and reran the reporter however although windows fixed issues reporter kept reporting problems.
Attached please find reports from scan dsk and acronis report which gives more details about the highlighted issues.

Hello Michael,
thank you for posting. I'll be glad to assist you with this issue.
VSS snapshot fails and backup is performed with SnapAPI snapshot. Since the backup also failed with Acronis VSS provider, the error be caused by a faulty VSS writer, but you have to make sure. Go to the article [[Acronis Backup & Recovery: VSS Troubleshooting Guide]] and do the following:
- Get the vssadmin logs as described in step 3.2.
- Check the VSS storage and run a shadow copy as in step 1.2.
- Check the VSS writers as in step 2.4.
Attach the vssadmin logs so I we check what exactly could cause the failure.
Thank you,

Hello Anna,
First of all I apologize for the late reply, however I was on Christmas holidays. Here are the results from the tasks performed:
- Get the vssadmin logs as described in step 3.2.
See attached zip file.
Check the VSS storage and run a shadow copy as in step 1.2.
Run shadow copy on all disks; no errors when clicked on create now, it displayed the size utilized.
Check the VSS writers as in step 2.4.
All vss writers returned no error. What I noticed is that there is no Acronis VSS writer listed.
That's all from my end, awaiting for your feedback.

Hello Michael,
Sorry for the delay, I hope you too had great holidays.
Thank you for sharing the vss logs. They actually show no errors, show that the shadow storages are assigned and have enough free space, that vss writers show no errors, and also that Acronis VSS Provider is installed. However you can also make sure that the VSS snapshots and VSS service work correctly by using the DiskShadow tool (in Windows 2008 and later): kb.acronis.com/content/45472.
As you mentioned, you are using the ABR11 RTM build 17217. Since that version there had been several fixes in the Acronis VSS Provider, so it is possible that you are facing an issue caused by it. The easiest way to prove it is to uninstall it. Follow instructions from this KB article: kb.acronis.com/content/37472.
Should the issue persist, update the software to the latest available build of ABR11 17440 and again repeat the Acronis VSS Provider uninstallation if issue is still there. If even then the issue is still not resolved, please provide the new error message and the SnapAPI logs as described here: kb.acronis.com/content/36501.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,

Hi Dimitry,
Thank you for your response.
Finally managed to find the source of the problem. The issue started when I uninstalled Kaspersky Anti-virus for Windows Server Enterprise 6 in order for me to upgrade it to the latest version.
Since this problem started I tried everything suggested however problem persisted. In the meantime the server was still without antivirus so last week I installed Kaspersky Anti-virus for Windows Server Enterprise 8 (the latest version). Once installed backups succeeded, no more VSS errors.
Do you know how this can be related to VSS problem its very strange! Anyway just wanted to share my experience in case someone else encounter the same problem. Also would like to thank you for your efforts in helping me resolve the issue.
Best regards,
Michael Demicoli
