Where To Backup - Location - Path - Local mapped drive - CreateDirectoryW, filename : \\?\Z:, $module : disk_bundle_vs_43994

Thread needs solution

I have 350 sites in a workgroup each with the same computer names Server1, Workstation1, Workstation2.  They all have a Workgroup Fileservers what I will be backing up to.

I have setup a Pre/post commands which maps a "Z:\" drive to the file server before the backup.  This is done locally on the remote Acronis machine which has the Acronis Core, Acronis Windows component and Acronis Management applications on them.

When I execute the job using acronis I get the following in the Error Log

Error Log

=======================================================

Error code: 17
Module: 4
LineInfo: f35f747b3b21f9dd
Fields:  function : CreateDirectoryW, filename : \\?\Z:, $module : disk_bundle_vs_43994
Message: The specified file does not exist.
--------------------
Error code: 65520
Module: 0
LineInfo: bd28fdbd64edb8ee
Fields:  code : 2147942402, $module : disk_bundle_vs_43994
Message: The system cannot find the file specified

The bit that concerns me is filename : "\\?\Z:",

Does this mean that it is trying to use a share \\?Z: with a colon in the share name?

Does it not backup to drive letters?

Any help appreciated.

By resolving this I will be able to reduce my backup jobs from 700 (growing to over 1000 soon) to 2.  2 is far more manageable.

Thanks

Merry Christmas.

Craig

Hello Craig,

Thank you for detailed information on the issue! We've discussed your scenario with the program management: on the current builds this mount script unfortunately won't function, but this will be changed in the future product versions, where we will have the possibility to set up the target location via script.

Thank you,
