F2V from Windows Server 2008 64 to Hyper-V 2012 R2 - After recovery the OS cannot boot

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have tried unsuccessfully to start a Windows Server 2008 64 and a Windows 7 64, from physical to virtual, then recover it in a Hyper-V 2012 R2.
The recovery process ends successfully, but when the operating system is started, only a black screen with a small flashing line appears.
I have done this recovery from an Acronis Boot ISO, as well as from the Acronis Backup 12 administration console. Both methods complete the recovery successfully, according to the final message of the operation, but when starting the VM, the result is the same, A black screen with the small line flickering.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Martin,

The core part in P2V process is initial backup capturing - make sure that you've captured the backup of entire source machine (including Windows-specific 100-300MB service partitions). Also if you prepared target VM beforehand (pre-created it in Hyper-V) then make sure that this VM is also UEFI if the originally backed up systems were UEFI, e.g. there is match. In either case such issues should be investigated with help from our support team - we'll need to get details on how the source systems were configured, their partition structure + what was generated after recovery.

Thank you.
