Full Onsite backup moved to Off site for Differential Backup

Thread needs solution

Hi Guys,

Got another question, I did a full backup on our main site and moved that backup to our remote site to make differential backups to that full back up.  I just want to know how can we do it or is it even possible.

Thanks,

JC

Hi,

The backup archive is bind to backup plan which generated this archive - this means that you can first create a backup plan, then run it once, then move the backup files physically to another location, then edit the backup plan and specify the new location of the backup files (specify the folder in offsite location). As the result the next plan execution will update the backup files incrementally/differentially in the new backup location. Note that if you create a _new_ backup plan (even for the same source machine) and point it to new location which already contains backup files from the old backup plan, then it will produce a full backup instead, so the core action is to _edit_ an existing backup plan which created the original backup files.

P.S. In the next update for Acronis Backup 12 we're adding a new backup option: "Backup filename" which allows to define the pattern for the backup files names and thus the above-described procedure will work even from _new_ backup plans with this option enabled.

Thank you.
