Installing Acronis Backup 12 on virtual machine

Thread needs solution

... I have setup a physical server and added a virtual machine. The virtual machine does not contain any OS. Furthermore I have converted the original Acronis DVD into an ISO file. Now I want(ed) to boot the virtual machine using the Acronis ISO file. Does this work or is an OS required?

Hi Peter,

Yes, you can boot an empty VM with an .iso created by Acronis Backup bootable media builder - this tool is installed by default along with other components (Acronis Management Server for example) when you install the product for the first time. Note that you can also download an .iso directly from your account management at account.acronis.com, though the bootable media in this downloaded .iso is restricted to provide restore capabilities only (no backup). Here's the direct link just in case.

Thank you.
