Only one user can run backup?
Hi,
I've installed and configured Acronis Backup 12 with the same user "userx" (domain admin). All works fine.
When I login to the Console using a different user ("usery", also domain admin) I cannot manually start configured backup jobs. An error "Preparing for backup of virtual machine has failed" is shown, with in the details the following:
Error code: 2
Module: 627
LineInfo: 0xE839411589F188DF
Fields: {"DeniedProfile":"D9DD721D-FCBD-DDB6-C757-35661AB34E3A","DeniedSID":"S-1-5-21-170874604-3320516699-3039805017-1423","DeniedUser":"drh\\userx","CurrentProfile":"04D59049-214F-9DC4-B954-0A20BF7ACEF3","CurrentUser":"drh\\usery","CurrentSID":"S-1-5-21-170874604-3320516699-3039805017-1306","$module":"access_manager_vsa64_3500"}
Message: Insufficient privileges to configure user profile. Only administrators are allowed to do it.
Both Userx and Usery are members of the "Acronis Centralized Admins" group on the Management server (Windows 2012R2 machine). UAC is switched off on the Management server.
What am I mssing?

Hi Theo,
I can confirm, this happens the same way when I tried it.
When you modify the backup job using usery and login back to userx (in your case) then it throws the same error. It seems to be stored global but only for one SID.
The network storage is in secondary location in my case.

Hi,
So far I wasn't able to reproduce the issue - I have 2 local users and 1 of them is even not in Adminstrators group (both are in Acronis Centralized Admins group). The task created by user1 can be run when logged under user2. In my case the backup agent is installed on the same machine as AMS though, so it may be different from what you've run into.
It makes sense to confirm that the 2nd user (usery) actually has administrator permissions on the machine whic is being backed up, rather than on AMS machine. The problem should be related to the user permissions on the protected machine (that's where the task actually runs).
Thank you.

Hi Vasily,
Both users are domain admins, the domain admin group is a member of the administrators group on the protected machine.
Does UAC have any influance? UAC is active on that particular server.
The problem seems to be related to the credentials of the network share that is used as the backup target. When usery was logged in to the Acronis console and the backup job definition was opened an error was displayed stating that the target credentials were not set. After usery edited the job putting in the credentials the user was able to run the backup succesfully. (the job was originally created by userx). So it seems like network share credentials are stored on a per-user basis, which in our case would not be practical.
Best regards,
Theo

Hi Theo,
Thank you for the details. The behavior actually looks like a bug, since any user who can log into AMS and has Acronis Centralized Admins privilege should be able to run the tasks. I've reported it to our QA + development teams so that they can reproduce and address the issue. It's unclear yet whether it is related to UAC, domain, or network share specified in the backup plan (or combination of all these factors) - we'll need to reproduce the problem before making final conclusion.
Edit: internal bug ID for reference: ABR-116748
Thank you.
