Restore/Clone GPT disk into a blank disk still not working?

Thread needs solution

As many of you know, Dell Optiplex line starting with 3050 Win10 all comes with GPT partitions, MBR partitions are gone.

Does Acronis have a fix as of today on successfully restoring a full disk backup with all GPT partitions into an empty disk? I'm aware of the fix that Mustang posted in 2015, but is there an easier way as of today?

His fix: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/101550

We are not able to do this as of today using ABR 11.5, 11.7 or 12, we keep getting the error after restore is complete and machine tries to boot ("Recovery, your PC/Device needs to be repaired).  If we recover into a disk that already has the same GPT partitions then it works, the issue is only when you restore into an empty disk.

So as of now Optiplex Win10 (3050) can be restored or cloned into another 3050 but not into a 3050 with a blank HD.

Hi,

The issue described in the thread you're referring to is quite an old one and as far as I've checked in our bug tracking system, similar problems were already addressed in the most recent builds for all Acronis Backup versions and Acronis True Image 2017. Therefore in your case the situation may be slightly different and this difference causes the original symptoms to get back.

In order to investigate the issue we'll need to get better understanding of the original system (which was backed up) partitions setup. It's very likely that Dell (like any other HW vendor) puts onto these systems a lot of additional service partitions besides standard System Reserved and EFI ones and these partitions may add impact. Please collect Acronis system report from the source backed up system (for v12 see https://kb.acronis.com/node/58301 - what we'll need to check is report.txt from the generated .zip file) and contact our support team for assistance with reference to this thread.

Thank you.
