ABU Adv 12.5 - complete uninstallation but licence keys and credentials still there

Thread needs solution

Hey there,
I have a very strange effect:

I uninstalled Acronis Backup Advanced 12.5 from my Windows 2012R2 Server to perform a clean reinstall.

After uninstalling and reinstallation the numer of licenses and the expiration date is shown!

Where is this information stored?
Sorry an uninstall has to remove ALL of the data from the machine.
And yes, I checked the box to remove everything during uninstallation!

I looked into the registry and there are a lot of Keys in the CURRENT_USER that seem to store credentials of locations and machines that have been accessed from this computer!
Sorry also a NOGO !

I then did the following
- uninstalled ABU via Windows
- downloaded the Cleanup Tool and started it
- reinstalled ABU

But even after this: number of licenses and expiration date is shown.....

And yes I also restarted the machine after each installation and uninstallation.

So now:

- why does an uninstallation still leaves data in the registry ?
- why are credentials stored in the registry ?
- where is the liecense information stored?

- how can I perform a REAL cleanup to do a REAL CLEAN reinstallation ?!?

Regards

S.

Hello Sven,

The information about licenses is synced from the Acronis account and not stored locally, so the re-install won't affect licenses in any way.

Hello,
sorry Ekaterina, but this statement is simply wrong.

I reinstalled the management server after a complete uninstall procedure and the execution of the cleanup tool from the website.

And in the license section of the management console the number and exppiration date of my licenses was shown!
So the data IS stored locally.

The location is the %programdata%\alsdb folder and therer are 2 files that store the license database.

So maybe for the future: License data ist factually stored locally !

Clarified the matter with the RnD - subscription keys registered to Acronis account are synchronized when you sign in; alsdb is being preserved after uninstallation by design to keep the track of license activation on this device.

If you select an option to remove the software completely (check the corresponding box to clean up logs and other data when uninstalling the product), there should be any entries left that store credentials for backup locations. If they are still there, it's worth starting a ticket with the support team.

So we both agree:
- even a deinstallation with selecting the option that everything is removed leaves the alsdb on the machine.

Sorry but this is not what I expect....

And to open a ticket to check why the registry entries are not removed:
I opened more than 5 tickets regarding several problems with 12.5 and it required a lot of my time to show the problem, create logs and so on. And the resolution was always " sorry, but we cannot explain it..please reinstall the product".
Sorry but I´m not getting paid by Acronis for being a beta-Tester.

And the effect of remaining credentials can easily be reproduces by the support team: Simply connect to some clients, some storage locations and then uninstall the product.
Then check the registry of CURRENT_USER and you will see the remnants.
