Acronis 12.5 VM Backup using VA, previously failed backup prevented the next to run

Thread needs solution

We use Acronis 12.5 (Build 10130) with VA on VMWare Esxi 6.5.  Backup files are stored on a Synology NAS (through SMB).

In case the network connection drops during a backup, the orphaned TIBX file remains on the NAS.  The next time the same backup plan runs, it fails.  The error is "Backup failed.  Failed to lock the file."  If I delete the orphaned TIBX on the NAS, backup can run successfully.

My question, do we need to manually delete such orphan/corrupted TIBX so as to make the backup plan able to run?

Thanks

Raymond

Hi Raymond,

The behavior you see is likely to be caused by particular NAS specifics (the SMB server used in it). In general it's not normal that file remains locked after the backup process was terminated, so the issue should be investigated with help from our support team. Also note that network dropouts are natively handled by automatic re-tries which behavior is defined in Backup Options->"Error handling" settings for backup plan, so it would also make sense to increase the amount of attempts there.

Thank you.
