Acronis Backup 12.5 to create an image backup of the server (server 2008 r2) w/ RAID 6
Hello. I've installed the trial version of Acronis Backup 12.5. And I've created a backup plan. It's a "disks/volumes" plan. I've run it, and created the .tibx file. The documentation is very vague. Is this what I would need to restore this image to a different server, in the event that this server failed? And to do that, I would just need to boot to something like Rufus to restore the image, and then update the data to make things more current? Please advise.

With trial you will not be able to restore backup do different server only to the same one.
I heard rumours that *tibx is not compatible with linux-based boot media - can anyone from Acronis confirm that? I haven't got the time yet to test it myself - if it's true you will need to create WinPE based boot media or create new *tib backup, but I think trial limitations still will not let you to restore to different machine.

Where did you get this info? Of course you are able to restore to differen server using Acronis bootable media even in trial mode. *.tibx - are backups writen by new Acronis Backup 12.5 archiving technology and they are definitely supported by 12.5 Linux-based bootable media.

Like I said I didn't have time to check this tibx compatibility with Linux-based media, but I will shortly.
Universal Restore is not available in trial so don't say you can recover to any different server because it may not be possible.

Correct, Universal Restore is not available on trial bootable media, but it does not mean that recovery will fail even on another Server. In many cases if there are similar or even a little different hardware OS can be successfully started. Just try it.

Thank you for the info. Could anyone confirm with me if I chose the correct backup plan, by choosing disks/volumes (instead of entire machine)? The documentation doesn't explain the scenarios and options with much info. I would like to have an image that I can restore to different hardware if necessary, so that I have a functional server in minimal time.
