Acronis Backup: Backup fails with "Windows error: (0x80070299)

Hello,

 

Windows error: (0x80070299) The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation or Cannot write data to file <path> due to a file system limitation. The disk may be highly fragmented or the file is too large.

 

You have this solution on the Web https://kb.acronis.com/content/61704 , but we use it Always incremental backup scheme. 

We do not want to use full backup only, do you have any other solution?

Hello Milan,

other options described in the Kb would be 

  • Free up additional space on the disk or add storage capacity
  • Set a 64 KB NTFS allocation unit size and enable support for large file record segments (FRS) on the partition
