Acronis Backup to Cloud Incremental Question

Thread solved

Hi, i'm a Acronis True Image 2020 user, i want to know if Acronis Backup 12.5 Workstation has the function to select Full/Incremental/Differential backup to CLOUD.

In True image 2020, when backing up to cloud, there's no tab/option to select 'Backup Schemes'. But the default scheme is incremental.

Does Backup 12.5 works the same way as true image when backing up to cloud? Meaning there won't be a 'backup schemes' tab and the backup scheme will always be incremental?

Hello Kevin,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

In True image 2020, when backing up to cloud, there's no tab/option to select 'Backup Schemes'. But the default scheme is incremental.

Acronis Backup 12.5 works the same way when backing up to cloud storage: there is only Always incremental (single-file) backup scheme available, where the first backup is full (which means that it is the most time-consuming) and all subsequent backups are incremental (and take significantly less time).

This is done in order to prevent cloud storage (and network bandwidth) overfilling.

Thanks Maria for the clarification,

Another question: I set my Acronis to do a Daily backup to cloud, when cloud backup is full because i overset the amount of copies to keep and amount of months to keep for too long, how does acronis cloud handle this situation? Does it automatically delete the oldest incremental(s) or will it just not upload to cloud and prompts me with some options?

Hello Kevin!

I'm just taking a guess, however I don't see why it would be different than backing up to a location that doesn't have enough space in general.

Backup jobs themselves will fail in this case.

To my knowledge the only time backups are automaticly deleted is when a retention plan says so.

Hello Kevin.

Backup jobs themselves will fail in this case.

I confirm that a backup will fail with a respective error message that the cloud is full.
