Acronis Backup is not working as expected.

Thread needs solution

Hello!!

 

I am desperately disappointed in Acronis Backup 12.5. The product is not working as expected. 

 

1 ) Upgrade from 11.7 to 12.5 was a  complete desaster
         - performance went down to DSL speed
         - All jobs failed with various error 
         - Notification no longer working
         - access to old backups not possible
         - and tons of more problems........
     Only solution was a complete new installation of Acronis

2) Awful WebGUI  
    Why Acronis did you change to a WebGUI?
     - Information shown in dashboard is wrong. Example Storage:

    There is only Acronis data in this backup. But dashboard shows 0 Byte Backup an 922GB other data. Is Acronis Backup 12.5 not able to recognize its own data? 

And the really best: NO HTTPS support. Sorry Acronis, no words for that!!!!! 

This GUI is maybe good enough for 30€ home products, but not for business products like a backup solution for medium companies. 

 

3)  Nearly every day jobs are failing with errors. Today: Backups did not start as of unknown reason     image

 

4) Each and every  tibx Files is named as "_.tibx"

Please excuse me, but Acronis 12.5 is one of the worst products ever seen in 25 years of IT experience.

Hi Juergen,

First of all thank you for sharing the feedback - it's always appreciated. I'll comment the listed items below:

1) Problems during upgrade should be investigated with our support team involved. Before the release our QA team has tested a lot of various upgrade scenarios to make sure it runs as smooth as possible, but there still could be specific environments/setups which upgrade is not handled well - we are commited to investigate and fix all such issues.

2) The Dashboard widget you refer to is correcly showing information for backup locations which are not managed by Acronis Storage Node, while for managed locations the statistics indeed is incorrect - that's a known issue which we have planned to fix in the next updates. 

The https support for web console will be re-enabled in the Update 2 which is planned to be released by the end of this year. We will support both self-signed and custom SSL certificates in this update.

3) Such alert may be triggered if the backup plan was created and the machine with agent was not accessible from Acronis Management Server (AMS) at the time the backup should be started - in this case the alert checks whether the backup actually appeared in the backup location (if its accessible from AMS) and if not then triggers the alert. The details of what happened should be revealed by checking the log files from corresponding backup agents (check why they went disconnected or whether the backup actually failed on them) and contacting our support team.

4) The .tibx is the extension of new backup format used by default (Backup Options->Backup format->version 12). The .tib extension is for old backup format inherited from 11.7.
