Acronis Failover Physical to Virtual

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

Can someone share with me on how to roughly architect a solution to perform backup and failover for below environment:

Site A - 1 physical server

Site B - 1 physical server

Site C - 1 physical server

DR site - ESXi host with SAN storage

Objective:

1. Primary backup - local backup to NAS at each sites

2. Secondary backup - replicate to DR site

3. Failover - in case of any sites down, the server need to failover to DR site (restore as VM)

Thank you.

Hello Azleen,

Welcome to the Acronis forum! I will be happy to help you.

I would suggest you install the Acronis Virtual Appliance which is available both in Standard and Advanced licenses. It allows you to back up your servers in an agentless mode.

Then, configure backup plans for the machines. You can specify both primary and secondary location. As a result, you will have a copy of your backup both on the NAS and on the DR storage.

To add the SAN, please follow the instructions: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/…

Restore as VM is available in three options:
- Instant restore (available only in Advanced)
- Run as VM
- Usual recovery via the web interface or bootable media

I hope I could answer your question. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
