Agent for Hyper-V VM questions

Thread solved

Good day,

I have a situation where there is a 5 node Hyper-V cluster with each node running the agent for Hyper-V.

I am experiencing to strange problems.

1: When I delete machines from one of the nodes, the machines are still visible on the AMS. How long does it take for the AMS to refresh the VM inventory? And is there a method to speed up this interval

2: Another strange problem is that some machines that are resident on node A are shown to be managed by the agent install on another node. What could cause this situation?

I would appreciate any insight into these queries.

Thank you,

Nick

Hello Nick,

thanks for posting on Acronis forum!

These issues could be due to messed up IDs of native Hyper-V VMs and its replicas in AMS. This has been solved in the latest update U4 build 13400 so that Acronis Backup 12.5 distinguishes the native Hyper-V vms from the Hyper-V replicas.

How long does it take for the AMS to refresh the VM inventory? And is there a method to speed up this interval

The refresh time is 2 minutes.

If you experience the above issues with the latest build, please make sure that all Agents are updated and old Agents are deleted from AMS. If this still does not help, then please contact Acronis Support Team for investigation.

Thanks Maria,

Related to this question: I am seeing that some VMs on one host are being managed by an agent installed on another host in another datacenter, in another geographic location. These host are all managed by the same AMS.

Why would that be the case? Is there a way to manually force a VM to use the agent installed on the same host that the VM is running on?

Thank you

Hello Nick.

Manual VMs vending is not available for Hyper-V VMs.

I suggest that you open a case with Acronis Support Team so that support engineers could manually sort VMs in your AMS databases. You will need to share with them screenshots of your Hyper-V manager with VMs vending by hosts and screenshots of VMs vending in Acronis Backup 12.5 AMS console. You will also need to collect Acronis System Report from the server with AMS and from both servers with Agents (from the Agent where the required VMs do really exist and from the Agent which manages these VMs in Acronis Backup 12.5 UI).

Thank you Maria,

I have already opened a case with support. I wanted to also check incase there was something obvious I was missing.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Nick
