Backing up Hyper-V Virtual Machines

Thread needs solution

I am creating a plan to just backup the two virtual machines on Windows 2012 R2.

In the backup plan field there isn't any choice for VM's. All that is listed is
Entire Machine
Disk/Volume
Files/folders
MS SQL
Exchange Database
Exchange Mailboxes
ESXi

I'm going to guess that I should be choosing Files/folders and selecting the folders where the vm's disk files are located?

Hi Chris,

If you installed Agent for Hyper-V onto the Hyper-V host then all VMs should be shown under Devices->All machines and Devices->Hyper-V section. That's where you should create the backup plans from - it would be easier than trying to create them from Plans tab (which is for more advanced scenarios).

See sample screen shot (it shows VMware VMs, but the concept for Hyper-V would be exactly the same):

Thank you.
