Backup the Acronis Backup from the server to an external harddrive

Thread solved

Hello,

I'm from Germany so my English is not so good.

At the moment we are using a NAS System by QNAP. It has an integrated backupsolution for files. So I configured it to copy files for our work to an external harddrive and the tib files created by True Image installed on the notebooks.

If we would use a Windows Server as a fileserver where the Acronis backups are saved, is there a solution by Acronis Backup to copy the tib files to the external harddrive? I don't like using the Windowsbackup solution.

Best Regards

Alex

Hello Alexander,

thanks for posting your question on Acronis forums!

As I understand, the external drive is connected to the QMAP NAS system. So if it can be shared via the SMB by NAS, then you can do the following with Acronis Backup 12.5 software:
1) Create a backup plan to back up the machine to the file server (Windows-based server) and set up a second location where the backup will be replicated automatically after it is created. For both locations you can set up different retention rules, for example, to keep only 1-week old backups on first locations but also keep 1-month-old backups on the second locations. There are different options. Please refer to the Users Guide for more details: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/index.html#38846.html
2) Set up a separate replication plan to replicate the backups from one location to another. The advanced license is required to perform this operation. However, you have the ability to create a separate plan to copy the archives to another location. The benefit is that this plan will be executed separately and on the specified Agent, but when the replication is used as a part of a backup plan, then this operation is always performed after the backup is finished.

Please refer to the respective User's Guide chapter for more details: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/index.html#38952.html

Hello Maria,

thank you very much for this answer.

I see that in True Image could be select one second location. But in the Acronis Backup it is possible to select up to five locations after the backup.

Thank you!

Best Regards
