How to identify full, differential and incremental backups

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am trying to create some plans to backup our computers and I don't understand how I can use the grandfather-father-son scheme correctly. I am supposed to take the monthly (full) and weekly (differential) backups off-site but I cannot identify the right files.

I am using the default file formats and filenames so I get a bunch of .tibx files with some of them prefixed by numbers like -0001.tibx, -0002.tibx, etc.

Can somebody help me with this ?

Best regards

Hi

Each .tibx file can contain backup chain Full+Inc+...+Inc or chain Diff+Inc+...+Inc

Thus, you cannot manually copy only monthly backup via copying .tibx file. You can copy the entire .tibx file that contains several backups.

To copy only single backup, do the following:

  • Open Backups tab
  • Select location
  • Select archive from which you want to copy backup
  • Click Show backups
  • Select desired backup
  • Click gear button
  • Select Replicate in the context menu
  • Proceed with replication wizard

Hi Ramil,

Thank you for this answer. I do not have the option to replicate the backup in the context menu. Maybe it's a Backup Advanced option.

Anyway, this is not a solution for us because it cannot be automated and we will not do this manually for 20 or 30 backups each week.

I will continue to search for another solution but thank you again.

Regards

To replicate backups automatically you can use acrocmd.

Use "acrocmd export backup" command.

See:

export backup
