Input/Output Error During Recovery from Tape, version 12.5 build 901
I have two full backups that run every night. The first runs a script that stops and restarts all Acronis services, then runs a pre-command to perform a tape inventory. It then runs a full machine backup to tape of two hyper-v virtual servers that are local to the backup server and the connected tape drive. The backup also is set to delete the information on the tape and also has the option marked to allow for folder and file recovery.
The second backup job does not have any pre-commands and does not delete the tape. It also performs a full machine backup of a hyper-v virtual server to the same tape as the first job. The logs show that I have successful backups and notes the tape to which each backup is stored.
During an attempted recovery, I have not had issues until I attempted to recover files from a job that was marked for deletion. When I attempt to recover from a tape that has a job marked for deletion, I use the following steps.
1. Find the job
2. Insert the proper tape
3. Perform a rescan of the tape with the option to allow folder and file recovery on full machine backups located on that tape.
4. Once completed, attempt a folder/file recovery.
The job fails as follows. Please note that this failure was under the previous build. I have since updated to the newest build with the same results. I have also attempted a restore from bootable media, but that does not appear to allow for file level recovery from tape.
Regarding the noted scripts above. They are not the issue. This software has been nothing short of the most frustrating package I have ever worked with and the script is the only way I could even get a successful backup. Please focus on the recovery process.
