Is it possible to to convert an Acronis Backup 12.5 backup into a VMware virtual machine?

Thread needs solution

I know that Acronis Backup 12.5 can create an ESXi VM but I'm wondering if there is any compatibility with VMware workstation 14. My understanding is that VMware Workstation images are compatible with ESXi but rather than creating an image directly it looks like Backup 12.5 has to connect to an ESXi server in order to create the image.

Is there any known way of creating an image that is compatible with VMware workstation directly?

Thanks!

Hello Hannes,

thank you for raising this question! We have this feature planned for future versions of Acronis Backup 12.5 (internal ID for reference ABR-116928). Currently it's only possible to create a VM on VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V hosts. In the meantime you may want using the third-party converters for moving from ESXi to VMware Workstation.
