Multiple Licenses Required?

Thread needs solution

I have a physical server running Windows Server 2019 Essentials and a VM server on that machine also running Windows Server 2019 Essentials.  The VM acts a file server only, while the physical machine does AD DCHP DNS.  Do I need 2 licenses to backup these machines separately.  I would like to do system images of the physical server once a day and daily file share backups of the VM daily.  I would need to recover the files from the VM in the event of loss separately from the physical machine

Hello Greg,

welcome to Acronis forums!

You have two options:

1) purchase 1 Acronis Backup 12.5 Virtual Host license, which licensed per host, install 1 Agent for Windows on your physical server to back it up and Agent for Hyper-V for agentless back up your VM server. Acronis Backup 12.5 Virtual Host license includes unlimited number of virtual machines running on the target host, protection of the target host itself, as well as protection for applications running on those virtual machines or on the host.

2) purchase 2 Acronis Backup 12.5 Standard Windows Server Essentials  install 1 license on your physical server and 1 on your virtual server
