Hi Kevin,

Application protection for Active Directory option ensures that the domain controller will be restored properly when you perform entire machine recovery, e.g. that there will be no "USN rollback" problem after restore (see description). There are special pre-checks made before backup which ensure consistency of Active Directory database within the archive to achieve this goal.

Currently there is no possibility to perform granular Active Directory objects yet - we're planning to add this feature in future versions (internal ID: ABR-73114).

Thank you.

Hi Vasily,

if i just only backup and restore the AD Database such as the folder name NTDS and SYSVOL in the Windows. Will it has any impact?

Hi Kevin,

AD database + SYSVOL are not the only components responsible for directory services, so backing up just these elements won't be enough for successful recovery. At the very least you need to back up the system volume from the machine (it's better to backup entire machine though).

Thank you.
