NTFS permissions recovered during files and folders recovery

Thread needs solution

Good day,

I'm hoping someone can assist me with this question. During files and folders recovery what permissions are recovered.

If the folder was shared and is then recovered to a new machine, will the share permissions carry over?

To clarify:

We have a Windows machine with folders that are shared. These folder are backed up and we need to restore them to a different machine. Do we need to recreate the shares again or will they be restored with the recovery.

Any clarification on this would be appreciated.

If you require more information please let me know.

Thank you.

Nick

Hello Nick,

You can choose whether to recover the permissions or let the files inherit their NTFS permissions from the folder to which they are recovered.

The share permissions for the folder will not be carried over when restoring to a new machine but will be saved when restoring to the same PC.
