Thread needs solution

Dear All,

I have installed and configure Acronis Backup Advanced 12.5 in our Head Quarter, i have 3 site location branch offices, there were no IT guy to manage the backup,i have create unit for each branches and i have created backup plan for each branches as well, i am worry about the risk that a user in each unit can edit backup, can remove backup plan as well as can restore the backup. Is there is any way to restrict each unit user to do not edit the backup plan, or remove the backup plan within the unit. I am waiting for your technical response.

Thanks

Habib

Habib,

You can create a backup plan while logged into root organization (to top level) and then apply this plan to machines which belong to child units. In this case the plan will appear under this unit as non-editable one and it cannot be deleted by unit admin. See below screen shot example how it would look like.

It's though unclear which backup-related functionality should remain available for child units admins in your scenario - some more clarifications on this item would be appreciated.

Note that if unit admins have access to the backup console then they would still be able to create new backup plans (even though they cant edit the root-level plans) and there is no technical way to restrict that. What can be done is restricting access to backup console for users which are not supposed to manage backups, e.g. do not allow them to log into root organization or any of child units at all (remove these accounts from unit admins). Is it what you want to achieve?

Thank you.

Vasily,

I couldn't find the below option which you attached, I want a user in specific unit to do not edit/rename/remove my backup, in my attach a device has below allowedAction is it possible to edit it,

Habib,

On your screen shots the "FILE" machine (device) is registered under root organization unit which is why you can manage its backup plans from the root organization only and there is no way to restrict backup plans editing for this machine. The behavior described in my previous comment would apply to machines (devices) registered under any of the child units. In your environment it would be "WSUSSVR" machine registered under "TEST" child unit. If you log into root organization (as org. admin) and apply a backup plan to this "WSUSSVR" machine, then while logged under "TEST" unit admin you would see that the backup plan cannot be edited.

Thank you.
