Search for Files in Backup / double entries

Thread needs solution

Hello,

we are evaluating Acronis Backup 12 and the first Backups just finished without Errors. :)

But, now i wanted to search for a File and this does not work.
When i enter the Filename and Hit the Search Button it searches forever. First Acronis tranfers a lot of Data over LAN and then Networks transfer is stopping and the Search Circle is still running...

Is this a known Problem or do i have to change some settings?

Second Question:

Why is this Server listed twice? (Please see attached Screenshot) It is a HyperV Guest.

Thanks and best regards
Danny

Hi,

Regarding double entry - if you installed agent inside the VM and Agent for Hyper-V on the host, the VM will be listed twice - one with 'VM' icon as a regular agent, like a physical machine, and the one with 'Hyper-V' as a virtual machine that will be backed up in agentless mode  by the agent on the host.

Hi Fedor,

thanks for that clarification. I found this a little confusing, because when i Backup the HyperV Machine, the Machine listed under "HyperV" is backed up, but the same Machine listet under All Machines with the "VM Icon" is not Backed up. (But it is the same Machine...)

Also, Backups made from HyperV Machines with the HyperV Agent on the Host are not able to use the Application Backup Mode. So i cannot restore SQL or Exchange Data from it.

So, IF i want to have the ability to Restore Granular, i have to Install the Agents inside the HyperV Machines and do a Complete Machine Backup with enabled Application Aware Backup (SQL, Exchange, whatever is installed on the Machine)?

Using this, i can just Ignore the State of the "HyperV" Machines who say it is not Backed up?

EDIT:

I think i just create Backups with the HyperV Host Agent and make another Backup Job for the SQL and Exchange Databases...

Both ways will work - either application-aware disk backup by the agent inside VM or separate plan backing up only databases (if you need different parameters, e.g. schedule for it)

hm, i have tried an Application Aware Backup of one Server with enabled SQL Backup. But when i try to Restore i can only select "Complete Machine" or "Files". There is no SQL Databse Restore Option...

Do this work for sure with the HyperV Agent?

Application-aware backup won't work for agentless backup of Hyper-V VM - you should choose applications backup while selecting the machine with "VM" sign on it. The machine with "Hyper-V" sign on it will be backed up in agent-less mode, so no application-aware backup for it (it's supported in agent-less mode for vSphere VMs only).
