unclean uninstallation

Thread needs solution

I've made a mistake while uninstalling the Basic software and now i cant reinstall the software successfully.

During the uninstallation was a pop-up window in which was something about some other Useraccount or something.

I didnt really read the window...

Now if i try to reinstall the Backup software it ends in this:

"A error accured during the installation. More details are in the Log."

Can anyone help?

Hi Nils,

There should be a link to the .msi log right on the screen where you got the error message. All the installation logs are put into \ProgramData\Acronis\InstallationLogs\ folder, so you can pick the latest one from there, pack in .zip and attach it here for review. By default during uninstallation there are configuration files left on disk as well as in the Windows registry, so probably some of these entries are causing the problem.

Hi Nils,

According to the log file there is insufficient space on the C: drive in order to unpack the required components - see below quote from the log. The "Es steht nicht genug Speicherplatz auf dem Datenträger zur Verfügung" error is returned when installer tries to write C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\RemoteInstaller\3689\736C7C70-EA59-4CA0-AD94-DFC18857CC6C\abv6442.cab file. Can you please check if there is sufficient space on the C: drive?

Thanks alot i thought with the 2.5 GB free space it would be enough, because in the "advanced installation settings" it says i need just 1.3 GB but windows was never very good with HDD space calculation.

 

 

Its seems that wasnt the only problem

I've made some space on the Drive by putting the installation files on a server and starting the installation files on the VM.

And i get this error log now.

Is it still not enough space?

Hi Nils,

There should be a new installation log generated in the same folder. As a quick workaround try to install the product specifying some existing user account to run Acronis services under - it's under "Customize installation settings" when you run the installer -> check the user accounts settings (set to run services under). By default there is "Create new user" option selected - you should change it to some existing user with administrator privileges on the machine. If the installation still fails then I'll need to check the new installation log.

Thanks again the "New User Option" worked for me.

I just made new User for that purpose and added them to the administrator Group.
