Universal Restore not pushing KVM Storage Drivers

Thread needs solution

I am trying to convert a Windows 2008 R2 virtual server from Parallells to KVM.  After I restore the Acronis image (I am using Acronis 12.5) I then go to do the Universal Restore.

1. I get the latest signed drivers from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Windows_Virtio_Drivers

2. I boot the Universal Restore disk and choose the version of Windows I want to restore.

3. I pick the different folders where all the drivers are located.

4. I have also tried selecting the drivers individually using the "Mass storage drivers to install anyway" section.

5.  The Universal Restore procedure completes "Successfully"

When I reboot it gives me a blue screen error message 0x0000007E which is basically inaccessible boot device.  The driver with the problem is the Parallels driver.  It seems Universal Restore may be pushing the storage driver but it is not switching the C: Drive to be the KVM Driver.

I've tried configuring the VM to use Virtio Driver and also the IDE Drive.  None of the two will boot the computer.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mario,

The scenario you describe could be quite complicated since Parallels has its own (including para-virtual) drivers for Windows which may be conflicting with the target KVM system. The problem is likely not related to VirtIO drivers installation in the target system, but rather related to Parallels drivers present in the source (inside the image) which cause system to fail to start. This issue has to be processed through our support team for further investigation. Remember to mention the exact driver name which fails on the BSOD message + clarify which exact Parallels version the source system was running on.

Thank you.
