When backup vCenter Server, freezes and fails

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have a question, about backup vCenter Server.

I have on Acronis backup 12.5 registered vCenter on Configure->ESXi hosts

I have plan for Backup all VM´s also vCenter Server. When start backup vCenter, Acronis start create Snaptshot and vCenter freeze for a few seconds. Acronis can not connect to vCenter and Backup fails. Then I have to delete the snapshot manually.

Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks.

Hi Lubomir,

The fact that vCenter VM freezes during the snapshot is not normal, but still you can reduce the impact of the issue by scheduling backup for vCenter VM to different hours than the other VMs backups. This will effectively reduce the load onto vCenter VM at the time it's backed up and may help. One more option is to disable quiesced snapshot for vCenter via editing its settings and changing "disk.EnableUUID" property to "false" (see "disabling application-consistent quiescing" section in https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1028881 VMware KB).

Thank you.
