Hi tvieira

I would recommend that you start off with using the Acronis vss Doctor which you can download from here:

https://www.acronis.com/ja-jp/personal/vss-diagnostic-free-tool/

The tool will help you to identify possible vss related issues and remediate them.

Regards

@Jays, thanks for the reply

I am putting the images of the errors that the tool showed.

Can you help me how can I solve it?

thanks

Hi tvieira

Unfortunately there is not much you can do regarding disk IO besides adding additional resources to the machine.

What I would suggest you do is as follows:

1. For testing purposes disable VSS aware backup and run the backup again, if the backup is successful but with a warning of non time consistent VSS snapshot ( Or similar warning) then proceed to step 2 but if the backup fails please send me the backup activity log

*To disable VSS: Backup Management Console > Select the machine you are having issues with > Backups > Backup options > Volume Shadow Copy Service = OFF

2. Schedule the backup for a time which the machine will not be busy (For example after work hours or before work hours)

Then lastly if non of the above works please check what backup format your backup is using:

Backups > Backup options > Backup Format

If the backup is set to Automatic selection this can mean that you are using an old backup format, to check this you need to know if the backup was created prior to version 7.7 of Acronis Backup Cloud and you can check in the console:

Under devices > Backups > Select the backup > And select details, you will then see Backup format. If this says version 12 then you are on the latest version. If not please advise what it says?

I have noticed in my own environment that the latest backup format using the .tibx format has much less issues with VSS.

hi tvieira

This issue occurs when using a 3rd party backup program that utilizes Windows VSS (Volume Shadow Service) and has its own requestor.

It looks like the requestor (the backup application) does not allow system writer to call back into their process and hence generates the error in the application log.

Check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is running on your computer or not.

To check for the same,

Click ‘Start’, type ‘services.msc’ and hit Enter.

Locate “Volume Shadow Copy” and check if the service is started.

If not ‘Start’ the service.

If the issue persists, you may have to make some changes in the registry.

The following example grants access to the "MyDomain\MyUser" account:

Click on Start, type regedit in the search box.

On the Registry Editor window, navigate to the below location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Services>VSS>VssAccessControl <--- ADD KEY

MyDomain\MyUser = 1 <- ADD VALUE

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However,

serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back

If you still come across the issue, to troubleshoot the error condition, you first need to determine what caused it by using the VssAdmin command line tool. After determining the cause of the error condition, follow the steps indicated for each possible cause.

Thanks for the answers, I disabled VSS in the backup and it is doing the backups normally.
