Only if the hardware is identical and even then its not a good idea if you want to use both of them at the same time as they will have the same name etc. Probably a better idea to only copy across your user data, either directly from the laptop or from your backup(s).

I would like to confirm that this scenario will work only in case both machines are identical, otherwise your system won't boot due to the lack of drivers. In order to make your system bootable you will have to add the drivers during the process of recovery, and we have a tool which will allow you to do it, but it is compatible only with Acronis True Image Home 2010 - it is Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack. It contains Acronis Universal Restore.

Acronis Universal Restore is a special add-on for corporate versions of Acronis True Image that allows you to restore your images to dissimilar hardware. I would advise you to take a look at the detailed article with the step-by-step screenshots to se how it works.

Unfortunately this feature is not available for 2009 version.
