ABR 11 Advanced Server SBS Edition Query

Thread needs solution

Hi Everyone,

I am looking at purchasing this for a client:

http://www.acronis.com.au/backup-recovery/advanced-server-small-busines…

The problem is I am not 110% sure whether it will do what I need.
I want to know if it will backup and restore Exchange 2010 without issue or if it requires extra software modules to run?

Setup is 1 single server with Small Business Server 2011 Standard and Exchange 2010 backing up to an external hard drive that will be cloned every week.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. I'll be glad to address your question.

Acronis Backup and Recovery 11 For Small Business Server will surely suit your needs. But please keep in mind that this version of Acronis software doesn't provide flexible backup of the database: Exchange will be images fully, no brick-level is available, and you will need to use VSS for such backup (check our online User Guide for details).

Brick-level backup for the databases will be available in the newer version, which we expect to be released in the next four-six months.

I would advise you to test the solution before making a decision, the trial version is available here. It's valid for 15 days, and fully functional in Windows. The only limitations are related to the trial bootable media, you can find the information about them in this KB article.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.

Yana,
After using TrueImage Echo for years on a 2003 server, I am reading about all these problems regarding ABR11 which is making me very nervous about suggesting it to others. I will try it but it doesn't sound promising from what I am reading.

think very carefully before purchasing. the product is a decent product but it is buggy which means you need support for it to function correctly. and since the support sucks i would think twice. i have had several cases and still do that take over a month to even get a responce from soemone. acronis seems to think that having a backup that does not function for over a month is ok.
