ABR 11 Fails to send email notifications with the following errors

I telnet into this same smtp server from the server that has the AMS installed. I handshake, check the sender and recipient as ok, then send a test this way. It goes through fine. Confirmed I received it. When I try to send a test via the "Send test e-mail message" button, or when the emails try to send via the automated process on the backup jobs, it fails with the above.
I confirmed Port 25 is open on the firewall to allow comms from this server to the SMTP server, and also verified that the server isn't on any spam lists. I have tried everything I can think of. I have a couple sites that use ABR11 that have this issue, but only ABR11. Anything using 11.5, or anything prior to 11 seem to work just fine. Please help!!! It's driving me crazy trying to figure it out. It's ABR 11 build 11.0.17440. Thanks.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the answer.
Most probably you are testing email notification from Acronis Management Server, however the backup e-mail notification are sent from Acronis agents installed on the managed machines. On the Management Server, navigate to Machines with Agents and connect directly to agent that failed to send a notification. Click Options -> Machine Options. Send test e-mail from E-mail Notification options menu. It will fail too. Proceed to the next troubleshooting steps.
As I understood you have followed all the steps from the KB article. Was telnet checked on the machine with the agent?
1. Please verify the test mail and the mails after backup with the Gmail settings. An example you will find in this article. Here you can also find general instructions.
