ABR 11 restore issue on Windows Server 2008: "Error: An underlying layer has disconnected from the peer."

Thread needs solution

We have integrated Automated Backup and Recovery 11, Command-line version, into our product.
Scheduled tasks are created to run backups at user-defined intervals.
A bootable USB stick is created, which will automatically restore a .tib file when booted. Completely unattended.
Our environment at the time was Windows Server 2003.

Earlier this year, we upgraded our OS to Windows Server 2008 Standard, SP2, 32-bit (not R2).
After this upgrade, the backup functionality stopped working.
Acronis support suggested:
- Running the "clean" tool
- Reinstalling the Acronis components
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Command-Line Tool
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Agent Core
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Agent for Windows
This seemingly worked fine, since we no longer have errors creating and verifying backups.

However, whenever we try to restore, the process consistently runs to about 95% completion, the fails with:
error:
Failed to process the request.
code: 11337729
line tag: F0CCA54483BE1F54
name: $module
value: "acrocmd_bartpe_vs"

cause:
message: Error: An underlying layer has disconnected from the peer.
code: 11403267
line_tag: 4A62D31A8B629384
name: $module
value: "acrocmd_bartpe_vs"
total_time: 00:15:00

sys_info:
cmd_client
major_version: 11
minor_versio: 0
build: 17437
server:
major_version: 0
minor_version: 0
build: 0

This has occurred on 5 different servers, to the best of my knowledge.

Any help you can give, would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Joe

Hi Joe W,

Thank your for your posting! I see, that you already opened a support ticket and the issue is being investigated by the development team. This issue is rather specific, because it's reproduced under custom bootable media and that's why it would be impossible to investigate it on the forum.

Thank you,
