ABR10 Advanced - Failed to create the backup plan - Scheduling volumes of a virtual machine

Thread needs solution

We are evaluating ABR10 Advanced and intend to buy it if we can resolve this nagging issue.  We have two servers running ABR10 Advanced.  They are both Windows 2008 R2 x64 (with the Hyper-V role installed and several VMs) on different domains.  One of them works just fine and the other one is having the following problem:

When attempting to schedule a backup that is using a source type of "Volumes of a virtual machine" we get the attached error.  This error does not occur when starting the job immediately and it does not occur when backing up "Files" or "Disk/Volumes".  This has led us to believe that it is some sort of problem that only relates to the scheduling module when dealing with Hyper-V VMs.  For instance we can schedule a job to backup a folder on the C drive of the Hyper-V host and it works perfectly.

We have tried uninstalling/reinstalling ABR10 along with following some instructions in other posts to completely wipe all Acronis data on the machine.  We made sure that Acronis created the service accounts during the installation process and we used the domain administrator account to do the installation of ABR10.  The Hyper-V server is a member of the domain and so are all of the VMs. We have tried using domain credentials as well as credentials on the local machine with the same result.

We have been fighting with this problem for several days and our trial period is about to expire.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Quentin Lafferty

Hello Quentin,

Thank you for your interest in [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

To resolve the issue please perform the below actions on the Hyper-V host:

- Delete the current tasks;
- Download a special Acronis utility;
- Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
- Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:

schedmgr task zap
schedmgr service stop

schedmgr service uninstall
schedmgr service install

schedmgr service start

Please manage your tasks from the scratch. Execute a task and see if the issue remains.

Thank you.
