ABR10 SBS Weirdness after update
Hi,
I got tired of my scheduled tasks breaking, so during some system downtime, I decided to try applying the updates to see if they would help.
Post update (build 13762) there were suddenly new components like the central management console etc. I didn't really want to worry about it, as my only concern at this point is to make sure the server is being backed up. I'll worry about other pc's later.
So I went about setting up the tasks as I had in the past, and told it to save to the archive (a series of external USB drives swapped each day at boss' request), set options, and all seemed back to normal. Then things got weird.
The backup would run and validate at the scheduled time, which was good, but then at random intervals during the day (stupid times like 11:10am or 2:13pm) the server would just start doing a full, or differential or incremental backup for no apparent reason. There were no policies or anything that I could see that might be causing it, so I figured for the sake of simplifying, I'd remove the central management component to make sure that it wasn't causing it. Removal worked fine.
It was at this point I found out about the simplified archive naming. This suits perfectly due to the USB drives and demand for a full back up each day. Set it up, told to validate after full backup, and waited for results.
Logged in the next morning to find backup complete, but Validation failed. I used the error checker, and it pointed me to this page http://kb.acronis.com/content/20786
It outlines my problem PERFECTLY. However it says the issue has been fixed in the latest build..... As you can see from my info above, I have the latest version. Am I missing something?

I stumbled across another document in your system that said it can happen if the drive it set to dismount after the backup. I couldn't remember if it was set or not, so I ran it tonight making sure that it wasn't set, and it appears as though the validation is working now.
If it does fail at a later stage, then I will remove the lot and start from scratch. Thanks for your tips. I've got them bookmarked for future reference
