ABR10 Win7 unreliable and slow

Thread needs solution

I've been running ABR10, build 11133. I run my backups to a 5 disk 100MB NAS
I have two systems I've been running backups from, XP Pro SP3 x86 and Win7 x64 Ultimate.

On the XP system, my incremental backups (hourly, 14 day rolling) have been running flawlessly.
On my Win7 system, I cannot get anything to work reliably.
Problems I have:
-- Endless "spinning" when trying to enumerate any UNC/network destinations. This does not always happen, but invariably it will happen if i spend enough time in the ABR10 management app.
-- When working, network enumeration and operations are very slow. I have no networking issues otherwise on the Win7 system.
-- Scheduled tasks simply will not run. No logs, they just don't run.

Right now I just completed a forced run task, and the backup went through Okay, but the cleanup task (delete archives > 14 days old) appears to be hung. There is only one file/archive that is older than 14 days that it needs to remove, but it's been stuck on "38% running" for over two hours. Stopping and starting the cleanup task does not help; it just does not seem to know what it's doing.

Trying to browse to my personal vault, often when looking for the the disk archives they will not show up - more "spinning" trying to enumerate the share.
There are no errors in my Application/System logs.
There are no Acronis logs or alerts that indicate a problem, it simply fails to perform.
I can access the NAS otherwise - these are often used shares that do not require authentication.
I have UAC disabled
Can anyone offer help/suggestions?

Thanks.

I still am unable to reliable get ABR10 to back up my Win7 x64 system; all the symptoms described above persist; I'm not finding any workarounds to these issues. My Win7 Ultimate install remains *very* clean, as most of my work is still in XP because of this issue.

Can anyone provide any tips or guidance?
Thanks very much.

Hello,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

Please recreate the backup plan specifying username and password for the Linux NAS.

On the Create backup plan screen, tick off Advanced view. Click Change next to Access credentials underWhere to back up:

Provide username and password for the Linux NAS:

The backup to NAS may fail with an error message similar to the following one.

The selected vault is not available at the moment. Please select a different vault

If you have your NAS joined to a domain or workgroup, avoid using the top level domain extension .local; e.g. If your NAS is set to be joined to mydomain.local, then connect to your NAS and change it to Mydomain.

After changing the NAS setting, please refresh your DNS cache. to do so:

Start-Run -> type in "cmd and press Enter;

In the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns

Also I would recommend you to set the appropriate permissions  to save to and restore from shared folder on your NAS device. The respective table is available in this article. It describes on how to set the permissions in Windows, the instructions on how to set the permissions for NAS folders are available in the  documentation that comes with the device.

I noticed you are not using the latest build.  You may want to update the build, I am not certain if the issue is addressed in the new build at this point, however it is generally a good idea to be up to date. We have officially updated our Acronis Backup & Recovery line of products to the new build under the number of 11345. For more information on the improvements we've introduced in this build you can refer to this page

Please log in to your account on our web site to download the installation file. You can learn more on how to download the latest build in this article

See if the issue remains. If the issue remains, please send me a  Private Message, I will take care of the issue.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawless for you. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
