ABR11 Acronis Bootable CD does not recognise Ext HDD

Thread needs solution

I have a new Dell Inspirion 17R (5737) BTX Base Laptop with 4th generation Intel Core i5-4200U Processor running Windows 7 64 bit Professional operating system.
I installed ABR10 and then used my free upgrade to ABR11. I created a Linux based Acronis Bootable CD.
I am using a Seagate 1TB Expansion Ext Portable HDD (Part No 1D6AP3-501) with USB3 to store my backups.
By running ABR11 in the Windows environment I can create a backup of my system to the ext HDD.
However, if I boot from the Acronis bootable media, the program starts OK; the program can see the internal HDD, but it CANNOT see the Ext Seagate HDD. I started the PC normally and booted into windows. Using Windows Explorer, I can see the Ext HDD. I shut down and boot from the Acronis Bootable Media CD and same thing happens - cannot see the Ext HDD. I changed to a USB 2 (older) Ext HDD and same result. I connected to the USB 2 port on the Dell laptop - same result.
I uninstall ABR11 and then reinstall just ABR10. I can see the Ext HDD when I start ABR10 in the Windows environment. I created a backup to the Ext HDD. Using a ABR10 Acronis Bootable Disc I CAN see the Seagate 1TB External HDD!
Seems to be an issue with the the new Dell laptop and ABR11 Bootable disc that is causing the problem. I have created a new Bootable Disc and same result.
Any thoughts on how to fix? Tks

Hello Michael,

the situation looks like bootable media of Acronis Backup and Recovery 11 doesn't have needed drivers. As a workaround you can use WinPE-based bootable media.

It also make sense to check if the issue persists with Acronis Backup 11.5 and if it doesn't to consider an upgrade.

Thank you.

Tks Anna, I upgraded to a trial Acronis Backup 11.5 and everything works! Tks for your feedback! Michael
