ABR11 Validation Time

I have just upgraded to ABR11 from ABR10. I use the standalone version on a Windows 7 laptop and I backup to stand alone Ext HDD.
In ABR10, my backup would take approx 2 hours to do a full backup and about the same time to do a validation - I have approx 350GB of info to backup.
With ABR11, the back up took 3.5hrs but the validation took 5hrs.
I then did an incremental backup with validation about 2 days later and the backup took 21mins and the validation took 6hrs!
I understand that the validation looks at everything in the backup, but I think it did this in ABR10 didn't it?
Does this amount of time to validate around 350GB of data seem right?
