ABR11-VM, Failed to open virtual machine during recover - Cannot resolve URI of the archive
Let me start by describing the environment.
Dell PE710 with ESXi 5.0.0 on Linux connected to two subnets.
NIC1 is 192.168.16.0/24 which is my NAT'd subnet for all local servers to communicate and access internet. This network is behind a Cisco ASA.
NIC2 is 10.114.114.0/24 which is a private network for my storage.
The storage server which is on this second private network is a Dell PE1950 and is connected via ISCSI to a storage Array that is 8TB. The Dell PE1950 is also Linux CentOS.
I'm trying to convert physical machines to VM's in ESXi. I have done this many times before using Acronis 11 and Windows HyperV but this is the first with ESXi.
note that I have both paid versions of ESXi and Acronis.
I've installed the Acronis Management Server on another physical machine which has two NIC's each connected to the networks specified above.
I have installed the AcronisESXAppliance and can see the VM's. I can also backup and verify the VM's successfully.
However when I do a restore of a Verify Tib into ESXi the restore fails. I've now tried 5 attempts from 5 different backups into ESXi and continue to get the same error.
The error I receive is
Failed to open the virtual machine.
Code:160(0xAA)
Message:
Code: 9,764,916(0950034)
Message: Cannot resolve URI of the archive
I've opened 3 chats with Acronis to resolve this issue. Each time Acronis tech's have had me retry the backup and re-verify but each Recovery ends with this result.
Help, I'm trying to move these physical machines which are in production to Virtual and need them converted as quickly as possible. I have increased risk and I'm losing money until these are moved.

So I was finally able to get this working by installing my management tool on a physical machine and then reinstall the VM appliance on the ESXi server. Even from this other physical machine i couldn't backup and restore to the storage server. Basically I was trying to backup to a different share but same server where the VM datastore was located. I had a VM share and a backup share.
The way I got it to work was to backup to my physical server and restore from the physical server into the VM Appliance.
It's basically like Acronis wouldn't let me backup and restore from the same machine even though the backup and VM store were on two separate shares.
